KPHB police have arrested two persons for committing fraud using the name of police in Hyderabad's Kukatpally area. Uppalapati Kashi Vishwanatha Raju (39) and Sayyaparaju Suresh Kumar (43) are doing real estate business, police said.
On 8th of this month, the police took the younger brother of the complainant for questioning in the NDPS case. When the accused came to know about the matter, they convinced her that they had high level contacts in the police department and would get her out of the case.
Police said they demanded Rs 2 lakh to manage the case, fearing that they might go to jail. With this, the complainant paid Rs.1.10 lakh in cash and another Rs.30 thousand through PhonePe.
On receiving the complaint KPHB Police registered a case under Cr.No.1014/2026, U/s 308(2) BNS and took up investigation. The accused were detained at KPHB bus stop on August 10.
Rs.60 thousand and Redmi phone from A-1, Rs.50 thousand and OPPO phone from A-2 were seized. The amount of Rs.30 thousand transferred through PhonePe was traced and frozen in the bank account of A-2.
KPHB Police has advised the public not to believe anyone who demands money claiming to manage cases in the name of the police and to contact the police immediately.
