The GST Council is initiating key changes towards providing stability to the business community. It is reported that the Finance Ministry has decided to review tax rate revisions only once a year. The changes, if any, will be effective from April 1. It is learned that there are no proposals on changes in general tax rates in the 57th GST Council meeting to be held on the 8th of this month. In this meeting, the issue of applying a single GST rate of 5 percent without ITC exemption to deliveries through e-commerce platforms will be discussed. Also, they are considering the demand to provide facility for availing input tax credit (ITC) on health and life insurance policies taken by the companies for their employees. There is also an idea to give GST exemption on drugs brought from abroad for the treatment of rare diseases and special foods.
