Key points of the conference
Political representatives and officials in the field of women and child development from all the states of the country are attending the departmental conference on October 8 and 9. This is the second conference in the series of departmental conferences proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The main objective of the conference was to further strengthen the cooperative federal approach, to make central and state governments collectively responsible for national priorities, and to accelerate development outcomes through mutual coordination.
A discussion on four main points
1. Reorganization of Anganwadi Centres:
Development of Anganwadi centers to provide better nutrition and primary education to children will be discussed.
2. Strengthening Child Protection System:The focus will be on strengthening the systems implemented to provide better protection to children in unsafe situations.
3. Safety of Women:
Effective implementation of legal and institutional frameworks for women's safety will be discussed.
4. Empowerment of Women:
They will discuss improving the results of the main schemes implemented for women and making their benefits reach the target groups more efficiently.
A platform for Centre-State coordination
Through the system of inter-sectoral conferences, relevant stakeholders from the central and state governments meet on a single platform to discuss sector-wise priorities.The main focus of this conference is to share the best practices implemented in different states, identify the challenges faced in implementation and find ways to solve them.
Also, the conference will serve as a platform for formulating time-bound activities towards better governance and improving the quality of services provided to the people.
