Cyberabad, September 19: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh has imposed Preventive Detention (PD) Act on Manda Venkata Kameshu alias Karthik Reddy, who is committing matrimonial frauds as a 'Cyber ​​Crime Offender' under the orders of IPS. He was detained in Medchal District Cherlapally Central Jail to prevent him from committing more frauds in the future.

Police said Kameshu, a B.Tech graduate and a resident of West Godavari district, committed crimes with the intention of earning easy money and leading a luxurious life. He targets unmarried women who use websites and apps for matrimonial relationships.He creates fake profiles on matrimonial websites and pretends to be a highly educated, established NRI with a good family background and a high paying job. He used several pseudonyms including "Karthik Reddy" to hide his real identity.

He used matrimonial apps, WhatsApp and Instagram to get in touch with the victims and promised to marry them. After getting the trust, he used to send the money citing reasons like sister's education expenses, bank problems, urgent financial needs, transaction restrictions.

The police disclosed that the credit card details, OTPs, bank account details and other confidential financial information of the victims were collected and misused.It was found that these details were used for unauthorized online transactions and online betting activities.

Cyberabad Cyber ​​Crime Police has identified Kameshu's involvement in 19 fraud cases since 2021. After he was arrested and sent to jail, a detention order was issued under the PD Act.
