Cyberabad Mobility Datajam was organized at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate with the aim of creating data based solutions to traffic, public transport and road safety issues in Hyderabad city. Cyberabad Police and Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) jointly organized this event.
About 100 people including technology experts, urban planners, students, journalists, representatives of government departments and members of civil society organizations participated in this program. This Datajam is unique in that people from different fields come together to brainstorm on urban transport issues.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh launched Datajam.Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Surpreet Singh IPS, GHMC Additional Commissioner Uday Kumar IAS, Open Data Telangana Commissioner Ravi Kiran IFS, TGSRTC ED Sridhar, SCSC CEO M. Ravindran and others participated.
Participants were assigned problems on topics such as traffic congestion, ward level transport indices, public transport accessibility and data visualization. Teams conducted discussions analyzing datasets provided by government and non-government organizations. In this process, model solutions have been created on transport needs assessment, service mapping, road safety, design of transport services to meet the demand of different parts of the city.
Dr. M.Ramesh said that the city would be greatly benefited by citizens giving their time and skills to solve public problems. He said that efforts will be made to implement the ideas based on actual conditions and data.
Joint CP Surpreet Singh said there is a need to develop a reliable transport system to reduce the use of private vehicles and encourage people to opt for shared transport. Ravi Kiran said that the solutions from this program will be useful for the development of citizen-centric services.TGSRTC ED Sridhar said that the analytics obtained through Datajam will help in efficient planning of bus movements, increasing ridership and expanding bus services to areas with high demand.
