Islamabad: Former Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq has severely criticized the behavior of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He opined that when the team failed consecutively, temporary changes were preferred instead of correcting the flaws in the system.
Misbah faulted the board's decision to suddenly bring home seven players and two coaches from the Pakistan team currently touring England. It is stated that such decisions will affect the stability of the team.
He opined that taking immediate action against the coaches and support staff in adverse situations is not the right approach. He said that there is a need to identify the real reasons for the team's defeat and bring changes in the system.Misbah also expressed his displeasure over actions such as giving show cause notices to the members of the selection committee. Instead of changing people every time there is a defeat, it is suggested to strengthen the cricket system.
On this occasion, Misbah mentioned the policies followed by the Indian Cricket Board as an example. It has been analyzed that India continues to be at the top of the world cricket because of its focus on cricket development in the last few decades.
He said that PCB needs to review policies like giving unlimited powers to foreign coaches and not clearly ascertaining the responsibility if they fail.Misbah believes that the skills required to excel in Test cricket are diminishing and that first-class cricket is not being given due importance is also causing the problems.
He suggested that if Pakistan cricket is to regain its former glory, the PCB needs to radically change its policies.
