The 18th BRICS summit held in New Delhi focused mainly on reforms in the global governance system. Member States felt that the existing international institutions were not keeping pace with the changing global economic and demographic realities. The United Nations, the Security Council, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Trade Organization have demanded necessary changes.
They stated that key countries including India and Brazil need more representation in international organizations. BRICS countries have made clear their stand against unilateral sanctions and trade restrictions. Resolved to further strengthen cooperation, equality and mutual respect among member countries.
