Markets rallied in the latter part of the trading session as shares of the banking and financial services sectors found strong support. Shares of Power Grid, Axis Bank, Ultratech Cement, Tech Mahindra and Bharti Airtel advanced on a buying spree. On the other hand, shares like HCL Tech, Tata Steel and Trent faced selling pressure. But despite the gains in the major indices, pressure continued in the broader markets; The Nifty Midcap 100 index lost 0.38 percent and the Smallcap 100 index lost 0.07 percent.
