The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has broken the tradition of holding IPL auctions in foreign cities like Dubai and Jeddah for the past few years. In the recently held meeting of the IPL Governing Council, it was decided that the 2027 IPL Mini Auction will be held at home. The board considered pleas made by the franchisees that moving entire technical teams and support staff overseas has become burdensome. City venue will be announced soon depending on availability of luxury hotels due to wedding season. The board said that the fifth season of Women's Premier League (WPL) will be held from January 14 to February 7, 2027. The player auction for this will be held on October 28 this year in Kochi, Kerala.It has been clarified that the franchises should provide the list of their retained players by September 28.
