The US Department of Labor has taken a sensational decision to protect local jobs and wage security in America. The Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) process of giants like Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant and Microsoft has been suspended under the supervision of a task force headed by Vice President JD Vance. As a result, companies have temporarily lost the right to file new I-140 petitions.

The US Department of Labor has given a shock to thousands of Indian IT professionals who are hoping for a green card in the US. Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) has been suspended for major tech companies including TCS, Infosys, Wipro and Microsoft.

- Acceptance of new perm applications under EB-2 and EB-3 categories as well as pending files have also been stopped. The decision was taken by the Department of Labor in the wake of allegations of abuse of visa regulations to protect the employment rights of Native Americans.
