A recent study has revealed that air pollution is having a serious impact on public health worldwide. According to the report, about 99 percent of the population breathes air with pollution levels that exceed health standards. Experts say that fine particles like PM 2.5 can enter the body and lead to long-term health problems.
Vehicle smoke, industrial emissions, construction dust and fuel consumption are cited as the main causes of air quality degradation. The study suggested that governments should accelerate measures such as use of clean energy, expansion of public transport, increase in greenness and control of emissions.
